High tide at my local beach

The weather was perfect today, clear blue skies with the sun shinning and quite warm too.

High tide was in today when walking at one of my local beaches with A&A.
I took my camera thinking it would be easy to juggle both camera and dogs (not as easy as I thought it would be!). As usual, loads of sea birds about and large groups of wading birds.

Further down the beach, near the marsh area I couldn't help but notice what the tide had brought in... My local beach is usually a very clean, immaculate and litter free, but today was a little bit different...

Quite shocking to see what is getting dumped into our oceans, it's pretty disgusting. It just shows you there's a lot of people out there who don't care at all, and who do not dispose of their rubbish properly.

When I couldn't see the dogs I knew where they were as I could hear them walking over plastic bottles and washed up crisp packets!

Apart from seeing all the rubbish, it was a great three hours outside in the fresh air. (Also enjoyed by A&A!).

Here's an image I quite like from today:

A cold but enjoyable day at Martin Mere

I decided to take a trip (again) to Martin-mere, it was pretty icy and quite chilly but still enjoyable like it always is. Every time I go I can never resist the Hawaiian/Nene Geese (shame you can't get them as pets, otherwise I would probably own a few!)

Along with these little guys...

After wondering around I went to watch the Whooper Swans for a bit, not as many as last time I was there in the beginning of December last year, but a lot are still around along with Pink-footed Geese, Coots (as always), Lapwing, ducks - Mallard and a lot of Shelduck!

Below are my two favourite photo's from today:

and when walking back to the car I spotted this little Robin - nice end to the day!

A foggy day down at the marshes

After being up since 4am working, around 3pm I decided to go out to the local marshes near me for some fresh air with my camera. I don't know why I really bothered taking my camera with me as you couldn't hardly see anything with the fog being extremely heavy, but here are some of the photo's I managed to get... not too bad considering the weather conditions!

  • Coots
  • a few Geese
  • Ducks - Shelduck, usual Mallard
  • x1 Egret
  • Blue Tit
  • Great Tit
  • Goldfinches
  • Chaffinch
  • Siskin's
  • Sparrows
  • Carrion Crow

A bit unusual? (above image) They were following each other everywhere like a pair would?
