NATURE DRAWING - CATERPILLARS, MOTHS, PLANTS

This is the seventh drawing I've start in my new book. All nature based, mainly focusing on plants/leaves, caterpillars and moths. All the images are in order and as you can see I'm nearly getting there!

From a previous post you will see a design I created, then set into a notebook layout ready for print: http://wildwatcher.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/hello-latest-drawings-and-artwork.html the same might be happening with this one soon :)

My designs are all created with just using a black ink pen... simples!

Beats TV any day! #Badgers

Saturday, a friend and I met up for a meal in Inverness. Afterwards, we decided to pop back to hers to see if her stripy pals had turned up. After a cup of tea was made (of course) we headed to the back door and within a few minutes there they were making there way down into the garden.

It is always a privilege seeing these guys (and girls) every time I see the badgers and we were lucky enough to see five of them. We ended up watching up to 3hours - beats TV any day!

Below are a few images from my phone. The first one being a female and the second you can see the five badgers :)

Hello... It's been a while...

Hello!

I have been a bit quiet lately on this blog, considering I use to post on here a lot.
Apart from photography and birding, I will now also be posting news, events and new work on this blog from my other project Wildwatcher Collections.

Wildwatcher Collections started last year in Feb 2014 (some of you may know through social media), which was actually developed from the name of this blog 'Wildwatcher' and with it being my username on Twitter also.

Below is some recent artwork and drawings that is currently being transferred and created onto products such as notebooks, cards and tea towels.

ABOVE: Nature drawing of Fungi and Leaves - drawn by hand using blank ink pen in sketch book.

ABOVE: Print ready artwork for notebooks. Nature drawing from top image, Swan design (olive green background, two Black Grouse and in the middle is one of my photographs of a white Mountain Hare.

Other news... I will be standing at this years Birdfair at Rutland, England. So come and say Hi if you're coming :)

Up the Glen... Out photographing Red Deer

It has been a while since I was out with the camera, in-fact I nearly always use to be out with it when working freelance full time. Since making the move fully up North, other work tends to take up my time. So, the other week with Christmas and New Year now out the way with, I headed out for a day up around the local Glens to look for Red Deer, there was some out and I managed to get a few shots, but I wasn't quite happy with the outcome...

...A few days later I headed out again, to the same spots looking for the deer again. This day was my lucky day and I managed to get a range of shots I have been wanting for a while. Still yet to get a few more shots, but no doubt I will get them sometime this year :)

It may look like the Mountain Hare is a favourite species of mine if you follow me on Facebook (...and Red Squirrel) to photograph along with the Red Deer, the hares get quite addictive! but there's something about the Red Deer for me, the way they stand and pose is very impressive or 'majestic' as I usually say.

Below are some of the shots from the second outing.

Below, a Stag sitting amongst the trees. This is the kind of shot I have been wanting for a good while, I managed to get quite a few different images that I have had in mind - more to follow soon.

Last image of the day as the sun started to dip...

Thanks for looking - more images to go through which I will post up soon!
